When you invest in a new mattress, you’re investing in your future comfort and health. But there are some extra steps you can take to ensure that you get the most out of your mattress purchase. Your bedroom should be a sanctuary, so it makes sense to take the time to optimize it for maximum restfulness and comfort. In this blog post, we will explore some things you can do after buying a mattress for your bedroom that will make it a truly special place. From optimizing its surroundings to properly setting up your mattress, read on to learn more about making your bedroom an oasis for sleep and relaxation.
Strip the bed
Assuming you’ve just purchased a mattress, there are a few things you’ll want to do in order to get the most use and enjoyment out of it. One important task is to strip the bed. This involves removing all bedding, including sheets, blankets, pillowcases, and anything else that may be on the bed. Once the bed is bare, you can then make any necessary adjustments to the mattress itself. For instance, if you have a new memory foam mattress, you may want to add a memory foam topper for extra comfort. Alternatively, if you have a new firm mattress, you may want to add a softer layer on top. Either way, stripping the bed is an important first step in enjoying your new purchase.
Vacuum the mattress
After you’ve vacuumed the mattress, be sure to also vacuum the box spring (if you have one). If your mattress came with a plastic cover, you can vacuum that as well. Just be careful not to puncture the plastic.
Place the mattress in the frame
Assuming you’ve already got your new mattress and it’s time to take the old one out, first start by removing all the bedding from the mattress. This includes sheets, blankets, pillows, and any other items that may be on or in the bed. Once everything is removed, take a look at the frame to see how the mattress is attached. In most cases, there will be four bolts or screws holding the frame to the headboard and footboard. Unscrew these bolts/screws and carefully remove the frame from around the mattress. If possible, have someone help you with this so you can avoid dropping or damaging the mattress.
Now it’s time to put your new mattress in the frame. Start by centering it in the middle of the frame and then gently lower it down onto the frame. Once it’s in place, reattach the frame to the headboard and footboard using the bolts/screws. Make sure everything is tight so there’s no risk of the mattress falling out or shifting around while you’re sleeping. And that’s it! Now all you need to do is make up your bed with fresh sheets and enjoy a good night’s sleep on your new mattress.
